The Morgan State Bears fell 87–70 to the Georgetown Hoyas last night in their season opener in Washington, D.C.
Morgan started strong, showing energy and discipline with solid shot selections early in the first half. But Georgetown closed the half on a 12–2 run to take a 42–34 lead into the break.
Senior guard Rob Lawson led the Bears with 20 points, shooting 5-for-9 from the field and a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line. Alfred Worrell Jr. added 14 points, while Dallas James pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
The Bears shot 39 percent from the field and 7-of-18 from beyond the arc but struggled inside, scoring just 22 points in the paint compared to Georgetown’s 38. Turnovers were also costly, as Morgan committed 16 to the Hoyas’ seven.
Morgan State will make its home debut Thursday, Nov. 6, against Central Pennsylvania College at Hill Field House.
