Morgan State held their annual Career Day at the Hill Field House yesterday, bringing in over 100 employers to give students the opportunity to explore the countless careers available after graduating.
Hosted by the Center for Career Development, employers present included UPS, Kennedy Krieger Institute, and Teach for America. The CCD encouraged students that attended to dress professional and bring their resume upon entrance to this event to help prepare themselves for future employment situations.
Preparation for the event starts a year in advance. “From checking databases, to sending invitations, and lastly preparing packets, as the final touch,” said Seana Coulter, CCD Director.
“We have been very busy critiquing resumes submitted through eBear, conducting resumes and career fair prep workshops for students” said Coulter. Last year nearly 2,000 students were in attendance. Yesterday was expected to exceed by 1,000. Coulter said that she greatly enjoys is the success stories from students that receive a job offer as a result by attending the fair.
Sophomore Whitney Mugula attended the event “because my senior year is approaching fast and I need to look into possible Internship opportunities relevant to my career field and to look for jobs with open positions. From the event I made contact with prospective employers and become aware of hiring companies in the local area”
For Senior Audry Bagby, she went “to gain some valuable insight into the working world.” She also expected to take advantage of the networking opportunities with the employers present and pick up tips that would help her obtain a job.
