This does bring back memories of a day when, as a tough-as-nails New Yorker, I went through shock, terror, denial, anger, determination. I grabbed fellow shell-shocked New Yorkers, some of them strangers, and invited them to my apartment along the Hudson River to eat and pray and wonder and just hold onto each other. Many people died in New York, Pennsylvania and D.C. Many more people suffered psychological damage but are, as Langston Hughes wrote, “Still Here.”
