Trailing by as much as 26, the Morgan State football team scored 20 points in the final 12:58 of the fourth quarter, but ultimately fell Saturday 36-30 to South Carolina State.
The Bears (3-6, 0-2 in the MEAC) mounted a spirited fourth quarter comeback to whittle a 36-10 deficit down to six, as Morgan State quarterback Raymond Moore III threw a 14-yard touchdown to Dorian Harris with 8:29 left and a 25 yarder to Joseph Kennedy Jr. before a failed two-point conversion with 2:03 to go.
After the recovery of an onside kick, Moore ran it in from the 4 less than a minute later to reduce the Bulldogs (6-3, 2-0) lead to 36-30. South Carolina State recovered a second onside kick and ran a pair of plays allowing time to expire.
Moore, a redshirt freshman making his first start in relief of injured quarterback Kobe Muasau, threw for 229 yards and three touchdowns while running for 76 yards and a touchdown for the Bears, who dropped their second straight and their fifth in a row on the road.
Morgan hosts Delaware State (6-3, 2-0) Friday at 7 p.m. in a game to be televised on ESPNU.
