ESPN commentators Tiffany Greene and Jay Walker will cover Morgan State’s football team’s (0-8) game against Delaware State (4-4) this Thursday on ESPN2.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in Hughes Stadium.

As a Black woman, calling play-by-play is especially special for Greene.

“I love the opportunity because of the representation,” Greene said. “There are so many young girls who are like me who grew up loving football.”

On Oct. 16, Greene and Walker covered Morgan’s 37-14 loss against South Carolina State.

Walker said that the team’s performance against South Carolina State could have been better.

“They’re trying to do a little bit better,” Walker said, “but I think everybody would say it wasn’t a good performance.”

Greene said despite the team’s struggles, the offense is beginning to see an improvement.

“At least you’re starting to see some life being pumped or infused into the offense,” Greene said.

According to Greene, one possible explanation for the team’s winless season so far is their lack of continuity.

“I don’t think they have all the pieces in place that they were expecting coming into the year,” she said. “I just think it’s thrown things off a little bit.”

Walker believes that it will take time for the team to develop.

“They’ve got to give it time,” he said. “Those kids have been through a lot, even the seniors.”

Greene said that one key for Morgan to beat Delaware State will be the offense having productive drives.

“It’s really incumbent upon the offense to sustain drives,” she said. “I think they have the ability to run the ball.”
