The body of an unidentified 45-year-old man was found in the Center for the Built Environment & Infrastructure Studies building, Tuesday morning Baltimore City Police said.

Police spokesman Det. Donny Moses said police responded to a call regarding a foul odor in the building, at approximately 10:50 a.m. University spokesman Clint Coleman said the man was a graduate student in the School of Engineering. Coleman said the man he did not identify pending notification of kin, used the office he was found in frequently on the second floor of the building.

Police said the dead man last entered the building on August 4 and had not been seen or heard from since. Building maintenance workers reported the foul odor and notified police.

“He could’ve been there for several days or even up to two weeks,” said Coleman.

Coleman said that this incident is not related to the incident that happened last week near the engineering building on Hartsdale Road and Perring Parkway. Coleman said police do not suspect foul play.

According to Coleman, city and university police are investigating. He added no cause of death has been identified and a full autopsy will be conducted.

Classes in the building which houses the School of Architecture and Planning and the School of Engineering’s Civil Engineering,  Transportation Studies and National Transportation Center  were canceled for the remainder of the day. The building was evacuated early Tuesday afternoon.

Coleman said the counseling center officials will available for students or personnel.
