Maryland’s 9/11 Memorial, located near the Inner Harbor at Baltimore’s World Trade Center, honors 67 Marylanders who perished on September 11, 2001, in crashes at the Twin Towers in New York, the Pentagon in Washington, and a field near Shanksville, Pa. Among those whose names are engraved there is Hilda Taylor, the sixth-grade teacher of Sharae Griffin, and the two other teachers who were accompanying students on a four-day National Geographic field trip. The memorial is comprised of steel beams from the Twin Towers and artifacts from the other sites. A permanent exhibit on the 27th floor of Baltimore’s World Trade Center, at 401 E. Pratt Street, is open to the public.
