Morgan State University’s Men and Women’s tennis team are both still undefeated in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Division this season.
The Men’s team is 2-0 in their conference while the ladies are 2-0 in the conference as well. Morgan State University coach Sean Holcomb-Jones says, “We really need to stay focused and make sure we are ready for our two big conference matches on April 5th against Howard, and April 11th on senior day against Coppin State.”
The team is trying to win their third straight North Divisional title and go into the MEAC tournament as the number 1 seed. Men’s tennis player Evan Ward says, “I believe our team’s success comes from the hard work that we put in everyday and the strong chemistry we have as a whole.”
Evan has been playing tennis for 11 years. His teammate Jannick Tash who has been playing tennis for 12 years says, “We work very hard to proudly represent ourselves and our university.”
The women’s team was picked to win the Mid-Eastern Atlantic Conference Northern Division due to their great preseason performance.
Coach Holcomb-Jones says, “It’s a nice accomplishment for our program to be voted preseason No.1 in our division, it shows that the program is progressing and gaining respect within the conference.”
The women tennis team’s next game is on Saturday April 5, 2014 against Howard University at 1 p.m. here at Morgan State University.
The Men’s tennis team’s next game will also be against Howard University the same day at 1 p.m. but will be held at Howard University.
