One dead, one injured after shooting at Northwood Commons

A 56-year-old man was fatally shot at the Northwood Commons BP gas station Sunday evening.

A shooting at the Northwood Commons shopping center left one person dead and one injured Sunday evening.

Neither of the victims are Morgan students, according to Lindsey Eldridge, director of public affairs and community outreach at the Baltimore Police Department.

Officers responded to the reported shooting at 6:43 p.m. where they found a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the body and a 56-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the Baltimore Police Department’s media advisory.

Both victims were transported to local hospitals, where the 56-year-old victim was pronounced dead

The Morgan State University Police Department (MSUPD) sent out a safety alert to members of the Morgan community about the incident Sunday evening.  

This incident does not pose a threat to the Morgan community, however, I caution the Morgan community to stay clear of that area the rest of this evening,” the safety alert said.

Baltimore Police Homicide Detectives responded to the shooting and are now investigating the incident. 

No suspects have been identified at this time.
