A 19-year-old man was fatally shot Wednesday night at the Marble Hall Garden Apartment Complex, an off-campus housing option for students near Morgan State University’s campus.

The victim was not a Morgan student, according to Larry Jones, assistant vice president of public relations and strategic communications.

Jones confirmed the victim was a security guard for Allied Universal, a security service company present around Morgan’s campus.

“Everyone at Allied Universal is saddened and absolutely devastated to learn a valued member of our team lost his life last night after being shot,” the company said in an email. “Local Allied Universal leadership has reached out to the victim’s family to offer our condolences and financial support.”

The shooting occurred at approximately 9:05 p.m., according to the Morgan State police department.

“The Baltimore City Police Department is currently investigating the incident,” Jones said, adding that the university will increase police patrols as a safety precaution for students.

Following the shooting, the university police department sent a university-wide notification of the incident and said it did not suspect any further threat to the community.
