The suspect involved in a shooting threat to Morgan State University’s campus last Tuesday is now in custody.
The Office of Public Relations and Communications notified the Morgan community on Monday morning that the suspect, Quintin Tyrell Stewart, was in custody.
“We are pleased to report that the suspect believed to be behind the incident, was apprehended and taken into custody by Baltimore City Police,” the office wrote in an university announcement email.
On Dec. 6, Stewart made a phone call to the university’s Office of Human Resources threatening to “shoot up” the office.
He voiced his displeasure after not being hired by the university’s food vender, SodexoMagic and said, “I’m going to shoot up HR.”
Larry Jones, assistant vice president of public relations and strategic communications, said the Morgan State University Police Department (MSUPD) contacted Stewart after the threat and asked him not to come to campus.
Jones also said that Stewart was never on Morgan’s campus on Tuesday and there was no active shooter.
