Kevon Darian Dix, a music major at Morgan State University, was shot and killed on Wednesday night as a result of gun violence in Baltimore city.

The Baltimore City Police Department continue to investigate for further information, but declined to comment.

While Dix served as a member of the Morgan State University choir and wanted to take his singing talents to the next level, he looked to pursue a career in the music industry after graduating college.

“There is not a lot that we know at this time, we’re trying to get more details about his passing. We’re saddened to hear about the death of Mr. Dix,” said Larry Jones, head of the Public Relations department at Morgan.

“We look to find the individuals responsible for this and bring them to justice,” he added.

According to Michael Jones, a mentor and coach to Dix, he was a good kid.

“He was never afraid to speak his mind, he always had something to say,” said Jones.

Jones knew Dix from the age of 10 and helped him with things like college and job searches. Dix would help mentor kids at the Michael Jones Mentoring Group along with Jones during summer break.

“You didn’t even have to know Kevon, but people could still come to talk to him. He had a listening ear,” said Jones.

The senior music major will be missed by his peers at Morgan.
