Morgan State University Provost Resigns

The provost and senior vice president of academic affairs resigned from her position at Morgan State University and is expected to begin a new position as the president of Northeastern Illinois University on June 1.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Gloria Gibson was chosen from four finalists to be Northeastern president. This decision was reached by Northeastern officials on Tuesday. Her new position a president will mark the first permanent presidency for the Northeastern.

Gibson will take over for interim President Richard J. Helldobler, who is set to become president of William Paterson University in New Jersey.

Gibson has served as the provost of Morgan since January 2015. Gibson could not comment at the time of this article.
