The “Morgan Means Business” lecture series will be host to a multimillionaire and former “The Apprentice” winner for a lecture in the Earl G. Graves School of Business.
Students and faculty are encouraged to participate in this free event to listen and network with Randall Pinkett, an entrepreneur, speaker and author for his lecture on Tuesday morning. He is currently the CEO of BCT partners, a multi-million-dollar consulting, research, and analytics firm based in Newark, NJ that he founded.
Pinkett is widely known for his win of the reality show “The Apprentice” during the season four taping of the show in 2005, being the only African-American ever to win that show..
Since then, he has become very successful at his many other ventures. His books have been very popular and appeal to younger people in business. They include; “Campus CEO: The Student Entrepreneur’s Guide to Launching a Multimillion-Dollar Business,” “No-Money Down CEO: How to Start Your Dream Business with Little or No Cash” and “Black Faces in White Places: 10 Game-Changing Strategies to Achieve Success and Find Greatness,” which was named one of the “Best Books of 2010”.
“He is an incredibly talented person,” said event coordinator Mary Foster,” he cares about students and student’s success.”
Pinkett has been successful as a scholar as well, owning five degrees from various institutions including a Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was the first and only African-American to receive the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship at Rutgers University.
The “Morgan Means Business” event will feature five different workshops on topics such as, cyber security, design thinking, coding, personal financial management, and networking effectively.
“This event is created by students for students,” said Foster. “They wanted to create workshops with hands-on learning and to walk out with something to use, or a new skill to make them better.”
For instance, in the personal financial management workshop, students will be able to determine their net worth and find out how to increase it. In the cyber security workshop students will learn how to protect themselves from cyber-attacks.
The workshops begin at 9:30 a.m. with two hour sessions before the keynote speech from Pinkett will be at 11:30 a.m. A networking event and small lunch will follow.
