WASHINGTON — Anthony Reagan Jr. scored on Howard’s first play of overtime as the Bison took down Morgan State 33-27 on Saturday in the MEAC opener for both teams.
The Bears (3-5, 0-1 in the MEAC) had taken a 27-21 lead with 3:27 remaining in the fourth quarter on an 18-yard touchdown run from sophomore running back Jason Collins, Jr.
However, the Bison (4-4, 1-0 Mid-Eastern) tied the game with 43 seconds left when quarterback Ja’Shawn Scroggins connected with Breylin Smith on a 16-yard pass. Reagan Jr.’s second touchdown of the night, a 25-yard rush to take the lead in overtime, boosted his total to 122 rushing yards. He also caught four passes for 36 yards.
For Morgan, Collins ran for 59 yards, while redshirt freshman quarterback Raymond Moore III ran for 99 yards, including an 81-yard touchdown run to open the third quarter. Moore threw for 157 yards on 13-for-25 passing.
The two teams traded the lead five times, while the game — Howard’s Homecoming — was tied four times. Morgan travels to South Carolina State Saturday.
