With about a week remaining before the start of football season, a starting quarterback has not yet been named for the Morgan State Bears.
On August 17, at Morgan State’s football media day, head coach Damon Wilson described the quarterback room as “really competitive” and having “really good days”.
“Kobe [Muasau] probably has stacked the most days consecutively together,” said Wilson. “So Kobe is kind of the leader right now in that room.”
During the press conference, Wilson emphasized that he has not chosen a starter but also highlighted redshirt freshman Raymond Moore III, freshman Josiah Bushnell, and junior John Griffith.
The Bears are looking to start the season off strong and improve from their 6-6 record in the previous season, only finishing third in the MEAC.
“This is probably the best quarterback room that I’ve been a part of,” said Muasau. “It’s helped me to get better… and even when we do make mistakes we’ll all help each other out.”
Standout linebacker Erick Hunter also mentioned that team chemistry has been a priority, noting the Bears have spent more time together on and off the field.
The Bears hope to carry that energy — and back whoever lines up under center — into their season opener at the University of South Alabama on August 30.
