Elijah Williams, Morgan State’s all-time sack leader and MEAC defensive player of the year, has signed on to the Minnesota Vikings’ 90-man roster.
Williams signed along with former Kent State linebacker Matt Harmon, as both defenders were brought in after the 2025 NFL Draft as undrafted free agents (UDFAs).
The Vikings invited Williams to their rookie minicamp on a tryout basis when he went undrafted on April 27. He was among 20 other players taken to Eagan, Minnesota.
This means Williams has a chance from the training camp’s start in mid-July to its end in late August to make the team. To make the final 53-man roster or become a member of the practice squad, each player must impress the Viking staff.
Williams will also compete in three preseason games and must make it through three rounds of cuts before knowing if he’s made the final roster.
Additionally, if the Vikings staff cut him during the last rounds of cuts, Williams can be released with the intention of re-signing to the team’s practice squad.
If released at any time during the offseason, all teams have the opportunity to select him for either their practice squad or final rosters.
