Former President Donald Trump won his bid for the White House early this morning.
Vice President Kamala Harris and Trump were neck-and-neck throughout the night, but Trump took the lead early this morning, later securing the necessary 270 votes in the electoral college. At the time of publication, the Associated Press has projected Trump has 295 points while Harris is projected to have 226.
AP has reported the U.S. Senate’s race ended with Republicans winning the majority of seats and gaining two from Democrats. The GOP has a total of 52 in the Senate; Democrats have 44; Independents have two and the remaining four seats are undetermined.
Republicans lead the House of Representatives with 205 seats. Democrats have 190 seats and 40 are undetermined. Republicans gained an additional seat in Michigan from Democrats.
With Trump’s win, the Republican Party will control the executive and judicial branches of government. The party may gain control of the legislative branch if they win a majority in both the Senate and the House.
