Amid complaints that hot water service to Thurgood Marshall Hall, the campus’ newest dorm, has been interrupted throughout the week, Morgan State President David Wilson has offered students a chance to shower at other dorms or relocation to students at a downtown hotel.
The university will allow students residing in the dorm — which opened in the fall of 2022 — to shower at Blount Towers, Rawlings Hall and O’Connell Hall by schedule, Wilson said in a statement to the campus. He added the university is looking to bring in a temporary detached facility to be placed near Marshall Hall.
Wilson added students could also move to the Lord Baltimore Hotel with Morgan’s assistance “if they are interested in a more permanent off-campus accommodation.”
Wilson said two of four boilers in Marshall Hall experienced failures, causing a loss of hot water on residential floors.
“Despite repeated attempts to resolve this issue, the repair proved more extensive than initially diagnosed,” Wilson said.
Wilson said a temporary boiler arrived on campus Friday morning and was being installed. He said he expected hot water to be restored to the dorm by Saturday.
Students have complained via social media about the absence of hot water.
